I never thought I would miss Cyprus that much... but I did. Maybe it's because I haven't been there for a long time. Maybe because I haven't travelled around the island much in the last 5-6 years and I forgot how beautiful it really is. Maybe because I got so fed up with the place I live in Doha and I longed for my house, my room, my bed... I don't know. I realised I love Cyprus and this realisation came as a huge surprise. People who know me will be surprised as well: I was always the one to say Cyprus is boring, it has nothing, I am so glad to be living abroad, blah blah blah and so on... Well how wrong I was. Cyprus is beautiful, it has everything, and most importantly - Cyprus is home. Yes it is not perfect, but what country is? It's not perfection that I love, it's the sky, the sea, mountains, food, music, little seaside cafes, Christmas decorations, fruits off the tree, people, sky, sea, mountains...
So see for yourself, here it is, Cyprus in winter.

Yup, Gods only, mortals forbidden. I guess the reasons are that Gods don't mind water snakes and that the pond is by far too small to accommodate all mortals who want eternal beauty (that's what the water in the pond, supposedly, gives).
ROFLMAO..... i love the sign.... blah blah blah.... "oh yea... and dont climb the trees".... it should also say "and keep off the fu**ing grass while youre at it" :P
aww, cat! I've been to aphrodites baths.. two or three times actually.
one of the times- it was on a school trip- and they made us hike up the mountain (ok, big hill) right next to it.. i'm telling you, I ALMOST DIED.
there is a great seafood restaurant right next to it, isnt there?
god, i spent most of my childhood summers in paphos, and i have to say i loved it- paphos gardens, that is where my grandparents lived.
i also went on a school trip where we spent 10 days in some village in the mountains. not a soul under the age of 60. except for a bunch of unruly highschool children and their teachers, that was great.
I love the sign, for exact same reasons. It's just hilarious. It's even funnier in Greek!
Bazza,
I guess you gotta be a Cypriot... or stinking rich!
Chica,
I climbed up that hill as well... years ago. I didn't die, but was close. As for the village in the mountains -I'd love to stay there myself for 10 days. In fact, I might, sometime soon.
Cairogal,
Thanks! Glad you liked them! Cyprus is gorgeous.
Mise,
Come visit! Then you'll know first hand.
Sever,
Nah I don't want to come back home. Not yet. But I certainly don't hate home anymore. I love it.
Warda,
You are welcome anytime, would love to show you and Duke around! Just make sure you tell me when and we'll see what we can do :^)
Christ, next thing you know you'll be saying you've realized that you love children. :P
